I’m delighted to say that we have some very good news to share with our members, volunteers and supporters!
Firstly, we have been successful in our recent bid to the National Lottery Communities Fund for the Volunteer Visitor Transitions programme. This is, of course, following on from the initial grant the National Lottery awarded the LA back in 2020, whereby we were able to re-launch the VV peer support scheme and thereafter help so many people living life after limb loss. This further grant award to the LA recognises not only the importance of our work, but also the effective delivery of our VV service to the UK limb loss community. We will be sharing more information about the VV Transitions programme very soon, so please watch this space.
Secondly, this week, we have been notified that we’ve successfully achieved ‘Investing In Volunteers’ accreditation. This is a fantastic achievement for the LA, and quite rightly recognises the vital importance that our volunteers play in making the LA the UK’s leading charity providing advice and support to the limb loss community. Without our volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to deliver the high-quality services that truly mark out the LA as the leading sector charity in terms of how it delivers support to the limb loss community and has done so for over 40 years and counting. And I would wish to record my sincere appreciation for the volunteer visitors who took part in the extensive survey interviews that were conducted as part of the accreditation process.
These successes for the LA recognise how valuable our work is. We continue to provide high-quality advice and support that makes such an important difference to people’s lives when faced with the challenge of living our different lives as amputees. So please accept my thanks for your support and commitment to the LA, and let’s look forward to some exciting new opportunities to ensure that no amputee need cope alone in the UK! 2025/26 is going to be very exciting indeed.
