We just want to let you know that we are still open for business. It’s important that we all continue to follow the government guidelines around social distancing and, for some of our community, that will mean shielding too.
As we all navigate our individual and specific challenges, it’s vital that we stay connected and, here at the LA, we can assure you that you don’t have to cope alone. Please get in touch, whatever your needs, and we’re always here for a chat too. Here are the ways we’re still supporting the limb loss community.
Our support desk remains open Monday to Friday, so if you have any questions or queries please get in touch with us on freephone 0800 644 0185. These are difficult times and rehabilitation services have been significantly affected – the LA is here to help with non-medical support around your onward rehabilitation journey. We have a wealth of knowledge and ‘a no stone unturned’ approach to our support. So, whatever your query, get in touch to discuss – whether welfare rights, legal support, signposting or arranging peer support. Our Volunteer Visitor (peer mentoring) service, supported by the National Lottery Community Fund, is provided by volunteers who are all amputees who understand the challenges of limb loss.
While we all adapt to the current and foreseeable challenges, we will miss being able to support you in person, however, rest assured that our experienced Volunteer Visitors remain on hand to support you and your families. Contact us today to arrange a ‘telephone visit’ or perhaps you’d like to consider becoming a Volunteer Visitor? We’re growing our network, so please get in touch if interested to find out more about the recruitment process.
While sadly we can’t all physically meet, we’re now running our LA Community Hubs – Virtually Speaking, currently on Facebook, with plans to develop further. The Hubs take place on the same days as our physical Hubs would run (see box, right) and are currently open to all. Individual Hub groups have been created with a view to running these as closed sessions. Please join our virtual Hub community. The Hubs are also open to family and friends of members – they just need to advise us when registering.
