“Without question the leading UK law firm for catastrophic injury claims. Superb degree of client care and attention to the individual case. The strength in depth of the Stewarts team is on a different level to other firms.”

The Legal 500

An amputation injury is one of the most difficult experiences anyone can face.  Knowing how much uncertainty this can bring, our role is to help you secure the best possible future for you and your family.  Our goal is to help our clients lead full and active lives.

We are one of the UK’s leading personal injury and clinical negligence law firms.  Our injury teams are all top ranked in Chambers and The Legal 500, the two leading independent guides to the legal profession, and have been for over 20 years.

Unlike other law firms, we only act for clients who have sustained serious life-changing injuries and work closely with many of the leading clinicians in amputation and limb-loss rehabilitation.

We are delighted to support the vital work carried out by the Limbless Association.

We appreciate that the demands on those who have an amputation are substantial and complex.  Amputation claims require a huge amount of time and attention devoted to them in order to ensure the best outcome is achieved.  For that reason, our lawyers only handle between 10 and 12 cases at any one time, a much smaller number than at other law firms.  This ensures we have the time to really get to know our clients and their families, understand their needs and aspirations and build a bespoke case for them that will ensure that their lifelong needs are met.

We visit our clients in hospital or at home or at any location that is convenient to them.

The trauma of limb loss can be wide reaching, impacting both clients and their families.  Through early access to rehabilitation, understanding our client’s aspirations and expert guidance through the litigation process, we look to break down the barriers faced by amputees, be that adapting to life as a prosthetics users, or returning to pre-injury hobbies and pursuits.

In addition to the support we provide to clients by pursuing compensation claims on their behalf, Stewarts is unique amongst serious injury law firms in having a dedicated Pro Bono (free of charge) team whose role is to support people who have sustained serious injuries or who are critically ill. Many of the people the team helps do not have injury claims.  Our Pro Bono team regularly assists, on a free of charge basis, with a wide range of legal issues such as:

• Welfare benefits
• Financial issues
• Critical illness/personal accident/ill health insurance policies
• Employment
• Family law issues
• Powers of attorney
• Community care
• Housing
