In collaboration with 9 St John Street and the Limbless Association, STEPS Prosthetics is hosting a hybrid conference to furnish its audience with a wealth of in-depth expertise concerning the benefits and challenges of amputee sports from basic day-to-day activity up to Olympic level.

STEPS Prosthetics Founding Director, Peter Durkin will be speaking, providing a prostheist’s insight into current sports prosthetics as well as the challenges of fitting and maintenance.

Other speaker topics will include:
A Paralympian’s tale of transitioning from volleyball to athletics (Julie Rogers, Paralympian).
>An art design expert’s explanation of how to create and produce highly stylised wearable artistic prosthetics (Sophie de Oliveria Barata, Founder, The Alternative Limb Project).
Expert physiotherapists analysis on how to facilitate starting or a return to sporting activity for amputees (Sarah Drury, Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist, STEPS Prosthetics and Sarah Watt, Specialist Rehabilitation Physiotherapist, STEPS Rehabilitation).
A barrister’s view of the quantum aspects of amputation claims including sports prosthetics claims (Brian McCluggage, 9 St John Street).
A consultant plastic surgeon’s explanation on common amputee complications that require surgical revision (Zeeshan Sheikh, Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust).
