For professionals supporting amputees
A guide to the Volunteer Visitor service and volunteering programme
We offer a robust service model of peer support for your patients/clients. Our Volunteer Visitor team is committed to delivering high standards of service delivery and a positive and supported volunteering experience for our wonderful Volunteer Visitors.
Our trained, vetted and supervised Volunteer Visitors share their own lived experience with those who have had or are about to have an amputation: amputees supporting amputees.
Volunteer Visitors offer empathy, support, and practical advice both pre- and post-amputation through a designated number of visits, focussing on key topics identified by the patient/client. It is a free, non-clinical service.
The LA is committed to creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment and accepts its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all adults it supports and who are involved in its services, projects, and activities.
Can I signpost any prospective volunteers?
Yes, we would be very pleased to hear from any prospective volunteers that are keen to volunteer and share their experience to support other amputees. We are accepting applications on an ongoing basis, therefore please signpost any patients/clients, meeting the essential criteria.
