LA's Vice President David Rose is speaking at COPA!

Limbless Association will be at COPA! Our Vice President David Rose will be speaking on behalf of the LA!

COPA is fast approaching on the 7th & 8th June! The entire event combines 85 seminars, 200 exhibitors, masterclasses, the business connections area, interactive features, and more over two incredible days.

There’s a lot to get involved in so make sure you don’t miss David's talk on “Life Beyond Limb Loss - The Road To Recovery" on Wednesday 7th June 13:15

WE NEEED YOU! Our Funding and Communications Officer; Joel Clark is taking part in various challenge events that the LA has to offer over the coming months and is looking for people to join him.

If you are looking for a new challenge please #JoinJoel in any of the events that he is doing over the year, join him train, fundraise and compete in these challenging but fun events on behalf of the Limbless Association.

“I want to encourage our supporters to take part in these fun events and take on something they haven’t attempted before. With training anyone can take part in these events and with me going through the same process at the same time I will be able to support with fundraising and training leading up to the event”.

For each event there is a small registration fee and the minimum fundraising requirement between £100-250 depending on distance of the event.

Manchester University Student Research
Nayab Begum is doing a PHD at the University of Manchester, investigating the neural mechanisms underlying chronic widespread pain using neuroimaging techniques.

We are passing on her invitation to find people to take part in this trial in Manchester. The study involves 2 visits to Salford Royal hospital, for a 30 minute MRI scan and an EEG study. She is reimbursing for time and minimal travel costs. She is looking for anyone who has experienced pain in the last month lasting more than 24 hours, including Fibromyalgia, as well as healthy pain free participants.

Phil's Cycling 58miles with friends and family this weekend on behalf of the LA!
On behalf of the LA, Phil is taking on a 58mile cycle along the North Wales coast on Saturday with his friends and family.

If you are local to the North Wales area please come out and cheer them on - a couple of representatives from the LA will be there supporting aswell!

If you can't get there please feel free to pass on messages of support and any donations through Phil's Just Giving page. Including offline sponsorship Phil has currently raised £1,050 and is hoping he can raise more before he reaches the finish line!

The LA are celebrating National Volunteers Week 2017!
Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK. It takes place from 1st-7th June every year. The LA are immensely grateful to all our volunteers who support us across a range of activities to support amputees in living lives beyond limb loss. #NoAmputeeNeedCopeAlone! The Limbless Association had a stand at the new PACE clinic in Bedbury for their open day. Andy Heaver and Anne Moscrop joined Joel in raising the profile of the LA to over 90 visitors that turned up to see the new premises and watch the demostrations that were put on. On the 7th & 8th June 2017, COPA Series 2017 will return to ExCeL in London with two days of innovation and development. It’s the event for rehabilitation practice owners to find everything they need to improve their business and find the most up to date professional knowledge. In the second half of his seminar, Arjan will be running a mini workshop on how rehabilitation professionals can focus their treatment when dealing with children with learning and/or behavioural disorder.

Jonathan Field, Royal College of Chiropractors will be speaking at COPA Series 2017 on how routine collection of patient reports of changes in their outcome and experiences (PROMs/PREMs) can be utilised to improve health outcomes and shared decision making, as well as demonstrating the effectiveness of clinical services.

As one of the UK’s leading Physiotherapists, David Clancy has worked for Isokinetic Medical Group and FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence as a chartered physiotherapist specialising in sports medicine and rehabilitation. He will be speaking about the role of Neuro-motor exercise training in the return-to-training strategy- a usually under-valued missing link in the rehabilitation pathway.
